Welcome To A Spiritual Mommy Expedition
Newsletter about deciding to become a first-time mom during COVID19's quarantine and growing spiritually into that sacred role
Welcome to Mom'ing while Buddhist by me, Nicole Rivera. I'm an ELA teacher, poet, and queer, latinx bruja from NYC who got knocked-up during quarantine and would like to document my voyage into motherhood as a SGI Nichiren Buddhist.
Becoming a mama is a radical, transformative, scary-as-hell journey that I’d like to share with a community. Unfortunately, the pandemic has thrown us into a forever frenzy of paranoia that has made social interaction minimal, to say the least. One thing that has kept me connected during the pandemic is communicating with women and attending virtual meetings with my spiritual community, more info here and (also) here.
I wish to “take back my power” by reflecting on womanhood, identity, and becoming a mom with you all. The style of this newsletter will be inquiry-based reflection, in efforts to remember all the parts of me that existed before journeying into motherhood, as well as the lessons learned along the way.
I’ll be submitting a post every week, so sign up now and become a part of this spiritual community with me!
In the meantime, tell your friends!
